Frequently Asked Questions

I offer individual therapy and couples counseling for adults, with a focus on helping people navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship challenges, communication issues, and other things that can make life feel a little harder than it should.
I also offer couples intensives for couples who want more focused time to work on their relationship than traditional weekly sessions allow.
My approach is personalized to you—there's no one-size-fits-all therapy package here.

You don't have to be at your breaking point to start therapy. If something in your life isn't working, you're feeling stuck, you're struggling with a relationship, or you simply want some help figuring things out, that's enough.
If you're not sure whether therapy is what you need, that's okay too. We can talk about what's going on and figure out together whether working with me makes sense.

I work with adults and couples dealing with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, communication problems, life transitions, and major changes in life or family.
Sometimes you know exactly what you need help with. Sometimes you just know that something isn't working and you're tired of trying to figure it out on your own. Either way, we can start there.

Yes! I offer virtual therapy throughout North Carolina, so you don't have to live close by to work with me.
Virtual sessions can be especially helpful if your schedule is packed, you travel a lot, or getting to an office every week just isn't practical. Sometimes it's just easier to grab your laptop, get comfortable, and skip the drive.

The first session is mostly about getting to know you, understanding what's bringing you in, and figuring out what you'd like to get out of therapy. I'll ask questions, listen, and get a feel for what's going on so we can decide where to go from there.
You don't need to show up with everything figured out. You can literally start with, “I don't even know where to begin.” We can work with that.
-
The easiest way is to reach out and tell me a little about what you're looking for. From there, we'll figure out what makes the most sense—whether that's scheduling an appointment or deciding that I'm not the right fit for what you need.
No pressure, no sales pitch, and no need to have it all figured out before you reach out.
-
No. Not at all.
Some couples are really struggling and need some focused time to get things moving in a better direction. Others are doing pretty well and simply don't want to wait until things get bad before they give their relationship some attention.
You don't have to be on the brink of disaster to decide your marriage could use a little maintenance. Think of it as checking the oil before the engine starts smoking.
-
Once we've had our consultation and decided an intensive is a good fit, I'll send you a detailed questionnaire to complete after our call. I'll review your responses before we meet so I can get a better understanding of you, your relationship, and what you both want to work on.
Your answers help me plan the intensive around the two of you and the things that actually matter in your relationship. So while there is a general structure to the three days, the content and exercises are tailored to your particular needs. Your intensive should feel like it was made for you—not pulled off a shelf.
-
That's okay. You don't need to come in with a perfectly organized list of everything that's wrong with your relationship. Sometimes you just know that something isn't working and you want help figuring out why.
We'll sort through it together and figure out where our time will be most useful.

Your three days don't just end with a handshake and a “good luck out there.”
About six weeks after the intensive, we'll meet for your included one hour follow up session. We'll check in on how things have been going, talk about what's working (and what's not), and figure out what you may want to keep working on.
The goal is to help you take what you worked on during the intensive and bring it into your everyday life.
